Sticker Shock

I notice stickers of all kinds on the back of cars.  13.1, 26.2, 70.3, 140.6.....  While driving home from work the other day, I noticed a sticker on the car in front of me that confused me.  As I got closer, I saw the sticker read 104.9.  I started doing the math.  I don't do math in my head very well, so started to chalk up my inability to equate 104.9 to some athletic distance to my own mathematical challenge.

As I got even closer to the vehicle (don't worry, I wasn't THAT driver), I realized the sticker’s small print referred to 104.9.....the local radio station.

Talk about a one track mind!

  1. I probably would have done the same! I guess we all have the minds of runners and translate everything into miles!

  3. Haha! that's great! Did an awesome run in Byfield today and thought of you! Check me out on runtastic--am I anywhere near you?

I was also trying to make that number be some distance as I was reading your post... lol.

    1. I'm not familiar w/ runtastic :( How do I find you/your run? I was out there this morning too, so we could've been close!

    2. runtastic is an app for your phone. It's a fun app that acts like a garmin watch so you can see how far/fast/altitude etc you ran. If you are a social media junky, then it can connect to that as well.

I ran from Center Street Byfield to Triton and back. I wanted to run in Maudsley Park (spelling?) but didn't want to go alone and it was 4ish and getting dark.

    5. I read your replies backwards - DOH!

Ah yes, good ole Triton. That would've been funny had we passed each other, given each other the runner's wave, and then realized we "know" each other :)

  4. Ha! So funny! I love how runners' brains function like that... whenever I see 3:39 on a digital clock all I can think of is my BQ time :)

    1. Exactly!! I've been flirting w/ 3:56/3:57 for the last several marathons and I do the same thing.

Ah, love how normal that is via running blog community!

  5. This is funny. One time I had a friend in my car, we were behind someone with a 140.6 sticker, and she said, "Is that a radio station?" hahahaha, so you're not alone!

  6. ha ha that is funny! My friend and I were joking today that if we were not able to finish our first full marathon, we would proudly support DNF stickers on our cars, because at least we tried! HA HA HA
